As of August 31/13
The construction is nearing completion! The walls are up, the new multi-purpose room is in with special folding doors, the new carpets have been laid, and the circulation desk is in progress. The shelving will be re-installed after Labour Day and final touches will be completed. We are hoping to have the keys back by September 9/13 and anticipate a two-week closure while we move back in. During the closed period, the book drop at the temporary location will be closed and the book drop at the main library will be re-opened. There is a lot of work needed to find places for everything. The library will re-open once everything is in place and appropriate inspections and permits have been given. We will keep patrons updated as we know more.
As of July 23/13
The construction is well underway. The lights and office areas have been removed, computer cables have been run under the floor to the new circulation desk location, and framing of new walls should be starting soon.
As of June 7/13
The construction phase of the renovation has been delayed until July 1. The Library will still be closed to the public as of June 8 and the Library Kiosk will open June 18.
As of June 1/13
UPDATE: These items have all found good homes! Thanks to Steve and Dylan at Scott Construction for making it easy for the library to recycle the lights and circulation desks. Heritage Acres and Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village were major beneficiaries.
Items available at the library:
- Light fixtures - we will be replacing the lights at the library so the old fixtures are available. There is no charge but donations would be accepted. Available on-site after June 27th.
- Circulation desks - perfect for a shop or garage. There is no charge but donations would be accepted.
As of May 16/13
- Contract awarded to Scott Construction Group, Calgary, AB
- Library will be closed to the public as of 4:30 pm on Saturday, June 8/13
- June 10-15 library will emptied and readied for construction
- June 17/13 - keys handed over to the contractor
- Re-open in mid to late August 2013
